No way custer would split this camp. All the great Warleaders where there outmaning and outgunning him. Crazy horse never lost a battle. He would never give that out of hand this day of victory. They where doomed the moment custer decided to attack.

22:56 Took an Intro to GIS class 15years ago. Your genuine excitement and enthusiasm brought me back there. Such an amazing tool! Really only limited by one's interests and imagination. My capstone project at Corning Community (attempted) to illustrate what a zombie induced mass exodus of NYC would look like over time. Specifically, how soon they would reach the Finger Lakes region 😂 but i didnt click on your excellent presentation for the GIS nerd-core! Im paddling south out of Cayuga lake NY tomorrow on a solo canoe adventure "attempt" and its "The Chesapeake or Bust!". Such an amazing history! Awesome show, great job!

My wife was a Bridgers prior to our wedding. Together, we've learned a lot about her ancestry and distant relatives. She's a direct descendant of Colonel Joseph Bridger, who is buried at St. Luke's Church in Smithfield, VA. He was featured on an episode of Written In Bone on A&E. Colonel Joseph Bridger played a prominent role in Bacon's Rebellion. Jim Bridger is also in her family tree. The Bridger(s) family is the only family to have a family reunion in the Smithsonian. She's part of the bloodline that was written out of Colonel Joseph Bridger's will forever. Colonel Bridger was one of the wealthiest people of his time.

I was in 3fd grade then. We lived up on the Crow Bench, well above the floods. My stepmother's aunt had a house in the same area the presenter lived. The water lines on her house were about six feet up. The cause of the flood in 1964 was at least partly the chinook wind that took the temperature from 10 degrees F to 75 degrees F in 8 hours. The Mud River joining the Missouri River was actually turbulent. I certainly hope Lewis was CLEANING his rifle in between charging it... But I suspect he wasn't.

“Statue of the Crow Chief…this is a statue by a WHITE sculptor, sitting at a WHITE run Chamber of Commerce in a WHITE dominated community…” Apologist agenda much? Please just stop propagating this nonsense already! My GGG Grandfather was the first Sheriff of Carbon County in the 1890s, was also the Postmaster for some time and a great woodsman. There is a historical marker on the old bank - Foiled Bank Robbery Site - On Sept. 18, 1897, The Sundance Kid (Harry Longbaugh), Kid Curry and others of the "Wild Bunch" rode into Red Lodge after escaping from jail in Belle Fourche, S.D., and announced their intention of making an unauthorized withdrawal from the Carbon County Bank. They botched the job and Sheriff John Dunn rode off in hot pursuit. After an 80-mile chase, he an his posse captured them near Lavina. The robbers were returned to the Deadwood, S.D. jail, where they again escaped. Great stories passed down about the Crow Indians that would come by their cabin when they ranched there, to get pieces of pie that Nellie made from local berries. They were friendly with the locals.

Great story Don! I was 8 years when my parents and I was staying in a park cabin. My father was trying to get us out of the area and while trying to put the suitcase in the car there was a bear next to the car pillaging the garbage can. We finally got in the car but the rangers wouldn't let us leave because the roads suffered from avalanche. At dawn we got an all clear and left. At least we didn't have a bear come into our tent!!!

A great big THANK YOU to MHS for recording this event so that I can watch it all the way from New Mexico. I am a descendant of Irish emigrants who met and married in Butte and am currently reading Dr. Noonan's book, which I highly recommend. It's funny how easy it is for our society to say the "system is broken" instead of saying that realistically speaking solving one problem or group of problems doesn't remove all problems that may occur. Problems will always be here it's our perception of the solutions that help or hurt us. Thanks 👍🇺🇸❤️😊
